From the Introduction: There is little in the literature for therapists that serves non-offending mothers in families where father-child incest occurs. That is the reason for this book. We have a recent but fast growing body of work from therapists who are now working with these mothers. These therapists bring to bear a heritage of practice and research on the mental health of mothers in families where there is incest. It is time that this work is shared....What follows is a description of the variety of experiences I have observed and shared with non-offending mothers of children who were sexually abused by someone in their families. Suggestions will be offered which, hopefully, will help therapists in assisting these mothers to deal with the aftermath of their child's sexual abuse. My hope is to increase sensitivity and understanding regarding non-offending mothers while enhancing the quality of services available to them.
